The Story

Welcome to Seas the Day, your go-to spot on Lummi Island for kayak, paddle board, and bike rentals. We’re here for anyone ready to get outside and explore the wild beauty of the Pacific Northwest—whether you’re cruising the coastline, paddling through calm waters, or pedaling quiet island roads.

Founded by Michael Godshall, Seas the Day was born from a lifelong love of adventure. From catching waves on the East Coast to building creative campaigns at Burton Snowboards in Vermont, Michael has always chased motion and meaning. Now based on Lummi Island—his wife’s hometown—he’s raising a family that shares his passion for the outdoors. When he’s not working as a full-time creative director or volunteering as a firefighter and EMT, you’ll find him out on the water or hiking the trails.

At Seas the Day, we keep it simple: great gear, friendly service, and a deep respect for the nature that surrounds us. Whether you're a seasoned adventurer or trying something new, we’re here to help you make the most of your time on the island.

The Community

We don’t take for granted how lucky we are to live on Lummi Island. It’s a small, tight-knit community surrounded by incredible natural beauty—quiet roads, peaceful beaches, and miles of shoreline to explore. But being here also comes with a responsibility to respect the land and the people who call it home.

As a guest, we ask that you treat the island the way you’d want your own neighborhood treated. Ride single file on the roads—many are narrow with limited shoulder space and sharp corners. When you're heading out on the water, always wear your PFD (personal flotation device) and check in with our team about current conditions. Tides, winds, and currents here can shift fast and shouldn’t be underestimated.

That said, Lummi Island is a wonderful and safe place to explore—our own kids have learned to ride their bikes on these roads and paddle these waters. We just want to make sure everyone can enjoy it safely, and that this place stays just as special for the next visitor, and the next generation.
